House of the Gladiolus
The Park family, House of the Gladiolus, of the Yangban clan have faithfully served and sworn loyalty to the Royal family. Each successor of the Park household has duly earned his place as the appointed Geumgunjang (Head of the Royal Restriction Guards in the Royal Palace) by the ruling family.
All members of the family have become respected protectors of Hanseong through their individual merits; some offering their service as highly-skilled swordsmen, while others offer their savvy insight and knowledge through social or political means. The family has originated from the agricultural lands of Suncheon of Jeollanam-do (Southern Province) and continue to sustain their dukedom there.

the Park Family
Indeed, the Park brothers’ individual merits earn favorable eyes from many eligible ladies of the ton. While their hands remain unclaimed, the same cannot be said for their hearts.
In further reverence of this strapping family, the Parks are also renowned for their family’s flourishing private (and public) gardens that which nurse many and unexpecting flora that cannot be found elsewhere. Both of their family homes in Suncheon and their manor in Hanseong boasts gardens that rival the grandiosity of the royal gardens.

The Park family remains one of Joseon’s most illustrious families amongst the sea of highly-regarded Yangbans. At first glance, the Parks may appear timid and quiet; however, their efforts to remain a respected family amongst others must not be overlooked. The current Duke, Park Yeonghan of Suncheon, has earned his title as the Daejang (General) in the Ministry of War and Defense. His brother, Lord Park Yeongho of Suncheon, is also a Daejang (general) in the Navy in the Ministry of War and Defense.
Before his mysterious departure from Hanseong in 1868 with Lee Nari, house of the Plum Blossom, the eldest Park brother, Lord Park Jaehan of Suncheon, was also said to be an officer of high rank.

both were killed in a palanquin fire-related ‘accident’ in 1855. Unknowingly, they had both been drugged by Lady Seon and therefore, were asleep when the fire started.

Park Seon, better known as ‘Lady Seon’, came from a Cheonmin family. She had a chance encounter with the eldest son of the Park family, Park Yeongjun. Young and in love, the two disregarded the severity their relationship would be on the Park family.
It was only because of her conceivement of Yeongjun’s child that she was allowed to become his second wife. Yet, once married, she grew bitter towards the Park family and her own husband. Alive, Lady Seon inflicts the Park children with the brunt of her resentment.

Park Jaehan is a love child—although that love is far from gone. The Lord was conceived out of wedlock but was born under the aegis of the Park family.
He is the eldest of his siblings and is forever protective over them.
At the end of the 1868 social season, he secretly wedded Lee Nari and fled to Manchuria as she had been betrothed to an irrelevant old lord in Goseong.

Park Nari (previously a Lee) is the cousin of Park Yeonghan, Park Yeongho, and Park Yoona. Their mother is considered Nari’s aunt. The Lee family is another NPC Yangban family in Hanseong.
Due to her rebellious streak, the Queen (Nari’s grandmother) threatened to send Nari off to marry a Lord from Goseong.
Having a long-standing flame for the eldest Park sibling (Park Jaehan, unrelated), the two secretly wedded at the end of the social season in 1868 and fled to Manchuria to escape the undesired fate the Queen had in store.

Park Yeonghan had been born as the second child of Park Yeongjun but the first legitimate son of the Park household.
After his parents death in 1855 and at the age of sixteen, Yeonghan took over as the head of the house and the Duke of Suncheon. His goal since then has been to safeguard the Park household and the future of his siblings.
In 1865, just a month after the late King’s passing, Yeonghan agreed to an arranged engagement to Go Yeorin from the House of the Cosmos.

The First lady of the House, Park Hwaju truly escaped the rumors of her barrenness after the birth of her second son, Park Yeongho. The young boy grew up under the protection and love of his two older brothers.
Despite the abundance of affections rained on him by his (then) living parents and his two older siblings, Yeongho grew up with difficulty in finding his place in the family hierarchy.
However, as the years went by, he’d establish himself as an admired and revered swordsman of the Park family.

The sunshine of the Park family, Park Yoona is the youngest of the Park siblings. All of her brothers dote on their baby sister, but they do not spare words on her share of her familial duty (mostly out of concern for her future).
Nevertheless, this joyful ray of light met a shard of darkness on the night of the Chilseok Nakhwa Nori festival.
As if life could not already be brutal enough for the young lady, a mere few weeks after the scarring incident, Park Yoona discovered she was with child by a yakhwa-making Sangmin man named Moon Hyeon (with whom she has had a romantic affair).
With this, she fled to Manchuria, wishing to forget all that had befallen her whilst in Hanseong.

The Park family owns the ONE and ONLY known TANHUA plant in all of Hanseong. During the off-season, the plant resides safely in the Park's estate in Suncheon. When the social season begins, it is moved to their manor in Hanseong in favor of their yearly Tanhua soirée. The flowers of the Tanhua only bloom at night once a year. In celebration of this ever-fleeting phenomenon and tradition, the Parks will open their doors to the entire ton and host a viewing party every single year for one night only.
The Park family's estate in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do of the Great Joseon is located in the vast countryside, specifically as an integral means to accommodate for the overabundant (and every-growing) collection of flora that has been tended and nurtured by each generation of Parks to the next. Some of the plants in their acres and acres of resplendence are appraised as admirably rare. Such as, but not limited to, the Tanhua plant, the Black Batflower, and the Egg Magnolia. Their gardens also house many other common flora, such as the Gladiolus flower, the Park's honorable family seal.
While not as grand as their country estate in Suncheon, the Park family's manor in Hanseong also boasts a fairly monumental garden that is very often open to the ton for viewing. During the social season, their prized Tanhua plant is moved from their Suncheon estate to the manor in Hanseong for their yearly Tanhua soirée.
From a young age, each and every offspring of the Park family are taught how to care for the family plants, regardless of its rarity. The elders would often use this learning opportunity as a way to instill patience, perseverance, and generosity in their younglings; their belief being that these virtuous seeds must be planted early in their minds—and only then, will their children effloresce as respectable members of society.
More to be added.
